Karnataka Sources 1.8 TMCFT of Water to Telangana
Bengaluru: Karnataka is now sourcing 1.8 TMCFT of water to Telangana State. The water is being sourced from Almatti and Narayanapura reservoirs.
Recently a delegation from Telangana led by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President Uttam Kumar Reddy, requested the Karnataka CM for the release of 15TMCFT of water for drinking purposes and the Chief Minister accepted the request and released the water.
The CM also told the delegation that Karnataka has been facing successive droughts for the past seven years and drinking water had become a concern. Despite that 1.8 TMCFT of water was released on humanitarian considerations.
Siddaramaiah assured them of releasing 5 tmcft of water in the coming days and promised to release more in case of a good monsoon.
On the demand to complete the work on Rajoli Banda diversion scheme, the Chief Minister promised to convene a meeting of top officials of the Water Resources Department of both the States.
