Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh): A Barelvi Qazi reportedly has asked all the madrasas affiliated to the Barelvi school of thought not to comply with the circular issued by the Uttar Pradesh Shiksha Parishad wherein the madrasas have been directed to unfurl the tricolor and recite the national anthem.
The Barelvi ‘Qazi’ Asjad Raza Khan, has directed all the Barelvi madrasas to celebrate the independence day, but without singing the national anthem, terming the order as ‘Tughlaqi bayaan’ (Tughlaq’s dictate) by the Yogi Government.
Nasir Qureshi, Spokesperson of Jamaat Raza e Mustafa, a group of madrasas affiliated to the Barelvi school of thought [the 5th School of thought after Hanafi, Shaafi, Maaliki and Hambali], say, we will definitely celebrate the Independence Day, but will not sing the national anthem, Nasir Qureshi, Spokesperson of Jamaat Raza e Mustafa said.
Students have been asked to sing songs on nationalism and discuss the history of August 15 and the freedom fighters. The circular also calls for holding cultural programmes based on the theme of national unity, along with sports activities. The Madhya Pradesh Madrasa Board later followed in the UP MSP’s footsteps and ordered all 256 madrasas in the state to unfurl the national flag and recite the national anthem on August 15.
