Is Roshan Baig all set to become a Chowkidar?
Bengaluru: A few days ago former union minister MJ Akbar met Congress rebel leader R. Roshan Baig over a cup of tea in Bengaluru. It is said that if the meeting comes to a logical end, then Roshan Baig may say good bye to Congress and join BJP.
Last week prior to the declaration of the 2019 parliamentary elections, Baig had severely criticized the Congress state leadership including the AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka KC Venugopal, former CM Siddaramaiah and KPCC President Dinesh Gudu Rao and blamed them for the poor show in Parliamentary elections.
According to sources in BJP, the saffron party is considering to offer Baig a seat in Rajya Sabha apart from a bonus post at in the party at the national level.
Since the statement by Roshan Baig in which he had appealed to Muslims to join BJP, several prominent Muslim leaders in the city have expressed disagreement and termed the 7 time MLA an opportunist.
Seemingly Roshan Baig is waiting for a communication of approval from the central leadership of the BJP to enable himself to say goodbye to Congress and rush to become a Chowkidar. Though, Baig says he has no plans of quitting the grand old party and that he is a loyal soldier of Congress.
On the other hand, the Legislature Party Leader Siddaramaiah, referencing the dissidence by Baig, termed the coalition government as a “rock solid government” which cannot be toppled.
