BJP in search of emotional issues to put before electorates: SDPI
CHENNAI: M. K. Faizy, national president of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), has said that the BJP, the propagandist of Hindutva ideology, has nothing to offer to the people of the country regarding their welfare in the ensuing State Assembles elections and later in 2019 Lok Sabha polls. As such the right-wing BJP is in search of some emotional issues to hoodwink the masses and camouflage its failure on all fronts in the last four and half years or so of its misrule at the centre and also in the states. Its oft repeated slogan of “Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas” has remained a “Jumla” or hoax only and fallen flat on its face.
Addressing a Press Conference here Faizy said SDPI is always trying to focus on people’s agenda which includes raising standards of living of common man to save the country. The core issues of poverty eradication, creating jobs for unemployed, health services, stopping atrocities on Minorities, Dalits, Adivasis etc. are high on the priority list of the party and working relentlessly for it, he asserted. However, other political parties are not focussing much on these issues but indulging in communal politics which may be hard or soft variety.
Faizy said that BJP, which kept propagating the memory of Nathuram Godse, the killer of Mahatma Gandhi, all these years has suddenly remembered lord Ram and necessity of building Ram temple in Ayodhya putting it on top of its priority list once again so as to milk the election results in its favor. Besides this the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is on a name changing spree of cities connected to Muslim rulers in medieval India. Already names of Mughal Sarai, Allahabad, Faizabad cities have been changed. While cities like Ahmedabad, Agra and Hyderabad are in queue waiting to be rechristened. Similarly, opposing the celebrations of Tipu Sultan Jayanti in Karnataka while maligning the contributions of Mysore ruler in the freedom struggle are all centered to wipe out Muslim identity and galvanize the drooping spirits of die-hard BJP Bhakts ofHindutva in the election year. In addition to this the issue of NRC in Assam is also part of communal politics of BJP, he added.
Faizy termed the expenditure on Sardar Patel’s statue, built at a cost of Rs.3300 crores, as utterly wastage of resources. He questioned what about the poor people of the country who sleep on pathway, have no food to eat, have no means to visit health centres where minimum fee for everything is to be deposited, what about the children who have never seen school because of poverty. About 3000 acres of land was stolen from tribal and given to corporate that is what it is all about.
He moaned that BJP has failed on all fronts. Its policies on Demonetization and GST have destroyed the small and medium businesses of people with poverty staring them in their faces. Lakhs of people have been rendered jobless in the country due to these policies and the economy is nose-diving. Debt-ridden Corporate bigwigs have been obliged and they have been facilitated by the Narendra Modi led BJP Government to flee the country.
He lamented that the Congress party is busy in projecting itself as a proponent of soft Hindutva. In the election manifesto in Madhya Pradesh the party in trying to emulate BJP has promised to commercialize cow urine and focus on the bovine welfare. It is sorry state of affairs that instead of people-centric manifesto it talks about cows to attract hard-core Hindu electorates to win elections in the state.
Faizy appealed to all political parties big or small to shed their egos and come together on a common platform of secularism, which has been the hallmark of Indian Constitution. He lauded the role of Andhra Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for his effort to bring all the Opposition parties on one platform to oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pro-Corporate and hate-mongering anti-people policies while contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha elections jointly by sharing seats. However, just removing BJP should not be the sole agenda but implementation of pro-people policies when Opposition is voted to power. The SDPI is watching the move closely and extend support when necessary, he added.[Press Release]
