Islamic Scholars Appeal: Don’t Sacrifice Beef on Bakried and defeat the conspiracy of communal violence
Hyderabad: Moulana Syed Hamid Hussain Shuttari, a well known Moulana from Hyderabad has appealed to the community to refrain from sacrificing bulls in Baried. He further said, this would defeat the conspiracy of communal violence.’
A Suni cleric in Hyderabad has asked community members to refrain from sacrificing bulls during Eid ul Adha festival next month. Maulana Syed Hamid Hussain Shuttari has asked Muslims to ‘refrain from beef to defeat the conspiracy to create communal violence.’
His call was supported by Dr Syed Aasif Umri, the vice president of Jamiat Ahle Hadees, Hamed Mohammed Khan of Jamaat e-Islami and Hakeem Soofi Syed Shah Mohammed Khairuddin Quadri. The call, however, found no support from Muslim United Front. “People from several communities across the country consume beef but the issue is being raked up the only during Eid ul Adha. It is clear that some want to create hatred. The Quran says that Muslims should avoid any practice if it harms the community,” said Dr Syed Aasif of Jamiat Ahle Hadees. The scholars also displayed a ‘fatwa’ from the Jamia Nizamia Islamic seminary that stated that if there are problems in obtaining sacrificial animals during Eid ul Adha, Muslims can go for other listed animals.
Interestingly, the idea is backed by Muslim clerics of different school of thoughts including Ahle-Sunnat and Ahle-Hadees. They held that Muslims have been cooperating by showing respect towards other communities and avoiding cow slaughter altogether for the last few years. However, trucks carrying, bulls are now being attacked and atrocities have increased exponentially.
