Mangalore: A travel agency has allegedly duped over 90 Hajj aspirants of over lakhs of rupees. The planned crime came to light when MP Moinuddin, a resident of Udupi fell victim to the fake promises of the travel agency and lodged a complaint with the city police.
The complainant alleged that the agency took from several aspirants 70,000 from each in two installments promising them of looking after all visa formalities for the pilgrimage. The travel agent dodged the aspirants for over a month and finally intimated them all of non-approval of visas from the authorities concerned.
The police is begun its investigation and is yet to arrest the accused.
In a similar case, a travel agent in Mumbai has been arrested for duping hundreds of Hajj aspirants.
